The Olympic Village has 6 different catering areas where 15,000 athletes from around the world consume approximately 13 million meals during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. All eggs , as well as MEAT , MILK and other products, were said to be produced in France, with at least a quarter of all food coming from within a 250 km radius of Paris and more than 20% being organic.
But soon after the first athletes arrived, it became clear that the supply of eggs was not enough to meet demand. In the days leading up to the Olympics, eggs had to be rationed for breakfast, and some participants never received them.
“It has been proposed to revise the initially planned supply volumes upward,” confirmed a representative of the French supermarket group Carrefour, which is responsible for supplying fresh food to the Olympic Village.
In addition to eggs, athletes also complained about the quality and quantity of other dishes in restaurants. According to many, the main restaurant, which seats 3,300 people, certainly did not achieve the level of Michelin stars promised by the organizers.
