November 6, MINSK . Modern dairy farms in Belarus produce 73% of MILK. This was stated by Alexey Lagunovich, HEAD of the Livestock Department of the Main Directorate for Intensification of Livestock and Fisheries Activities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, during a round table at BELTA on "Improving the Economic Efficiency of the Livestock Industry (Development Strategy, Scientific Support, Product Processing)."
"There are about 3.2 thousand dairy farms in the country, of which more than 1.6 thousand work with modern technologies (49% of the total number of farms) and which contain 67% of the cows of the total herd in the country. The share of milk production volumes at modern complexes in the country is 73% of the total volume. The productivity of the dairy herd for 9 months of the current year was 4851 kg, which is 426 kg higher than the national average. Compliance with technologies at these complexes and the construction of new MTCs is an incentive for further increasing milk production and the efficiency of its sale," said the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture.Speaking about the economic efficiency of the livestock industry, the specialist emphasized that thanks to the modernization of livestock facilities in Belarus, there has been a positive trend in milk sales. "Thus, for the first half of 2023, the profitability of milk sales was 24.3%, which corresponds to the level of the same half of 2022," he said.
Alexey Lagunovich added that the country continues to improve forage production. "For some regions, this is still a restraining factor, in particular, for the Vitebsk, Gomel and Mogilev regions. Thus, in a number of districts of the Vitebsk region, there is a shortage of grass feed, which threatens the increase in the volume of livestock production," he noted. At the same time, the regional leadership is taking certain measures to resolve this issue.
