MINSK . Domestic agricultural machinery, its quality and efficiency were highly praised by Iranian representatives who arrived in
Belarus . This was also discussed at a business meeting between Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov and Iranian Deputy Minister for Agriculture Majid Anajafi, BelTA learned from the press service of the
Agriculture and Food Ministry. The visit of the Iranian delegation, which includes representatives of the ministry and the embassy, is taking place as part of its participation in the Belagro 2025 international specialized exhibition. At the meeting at the Agriculture and Food Ministry, the parties noted the high growth rates of trade and economic cooperation: in
2024 , the trade turnover of agricultural products and food raw materials between the countries increased by 21.1% compared to 2023. The main items of Belarusian
EXPORT to Iran are animal by-products, malt, whey, products made from natural
MILK components, mineral and carbonated waters.
Fruits ,
berries , vegetables, melons, mushrooms and cocoa are supplied in the opposite direction .
An important step in enhancing relations was the signing of a memorandum of understanding in 2023 between the State Standard of Belarus and the Iranian National Organization for Standardization, which provides for mutual recognition of Halal certificates.
"We are interested in expanding cooperation in those areas where we have already made progress. We will work to increase mutual trade, develop contacts between Belarusian-Iranian working groups, and agree on the necessary procedures for entering the Iranian poultry market," said Yuri Gorlov. At the moment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, together with the Embassy of Belarus in Iran, is working to obtain permission for domestic enterprises to supply poultry
MEAT.
"It is in our power to achieve a trade balance between the countries. Belarus has huge potential in agriculture, which we are interested in borrowing. We were impressed by the visit to one of the dairy complexes, where we saw fully mechanized production processes," Majid Anajafi highly praised the potential of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex and noted the prospects for bilateral cooperation. The Iranian delegation also highly praised the quality and efficiency of Belarusian agricultural machinery, and the agenda of the business dialogue also included issues of developing crop production and plant breeding. The meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere and became an important stage in deepening economic ties between Belarus and Iran in the agricultural sector.
