Italy bans lab-grown meat due to social and economic risks

The law was passed by the lower house of the Italian Parliament and has already been approved by the Senate.

Minister Lollobrigida said the country has “natural, varied, rich and quality” food that needs to be protected and valued.

Factories that break the new rules will be fined up to €150,000 and risk being closed, and owners could lose eligibility for government funding for up to three years.
