Infected chicken meat detected at Sverdlovsk poultry farm

Specialists of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR in the Sverdlovsk region have identified a dangerous bacterium in chicken MEAT at one of the poultry farms in the region.

“In the testing laboratory of the Sverdlovsk reference center of the Rosselkhoznadzor, a sample of chicken thigh meat was tested for microbiological safety indicators. The chicken thigh was sent for testing by the manufacturer,” said Natalya Sayfulina, press secretary of the Rosselkhoznadzor for the Sverdlovsk region, to EAN.

A check at the Department of Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise showed that the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium is present in poultry meat, which can cause listeriosis in humans. The use of such a product can be dangerous for humans, since listeriosis is a bacterial infection that can lead to a feverish reaction when the pathogen spreads through the blood and lymph. Listeria settle in the lymph nodes and tonsils, other organs, and bacteria multiply there. With active progression, listeriomas (necrotic nodules) are formed in the lymph nodes and tissues of internal organs (and in pregnant women - in the placenta). Severe course of listeriosis can lead to the development of sepsis.
