240 units of equipment in 78 healthcare organizations of the region were connected to a single storage system

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a project was completed to connect the diagnostic equipment of medical organizations to a single archive of medical images. Now tomographs, mammographs, X-ray machines - a total of 240 pieces of equipment - work in a centralized system, and all the images taken are stored in a single database. Doctors of both city and district medical institutions have access to images from any workplace.

Equipment diagnostics and setup of access to the system for viewing and analyzing medical images on workstations were performed by specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod branch of PJSC Rostelecom.

“Work on the formation of a unified database of X-ray studies began three years ago. During this time, we have combined hundreds of pieces of equipment into one system and ensured the availability of digital services for all participants in the treatment process. Doctors have received a convenient tool for diagnostics, patients have the opportunity to quickly receive a medical report, and the relevant department has been able to manage processes based on analytical data,” said Evgeny Petrov, Vice President and DIRECTOR of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of PJSC Rostelecom.

Every day, the Central Archive of Medical Imaging (CAMI) receives information about more than 2,000 studies, and the database contains about 753,000 images in total. These are images of magnetic resonance and computed tomography, radiographs, mammograms. To transfer such a large amount of data, specialized software and hardware systems installed in medical institutions are used, which ensure guaranteed delivery of information to the central storage, while optimizing the load on communication channels.

The program allows you to view images in different projections, compare them with previously obtained results, and also request an expert opinion from other specialists.

“Introduced solutions in the Nizhny Novgorod Region make it possible to increase the efficiency of the medical and diagnostic sphere, reduce and optimize the costs of medical organizations. When developing our software products, we always listen to the opinions of our users and try to take into account their wishes as much as possible in order to achieve the maximum effect,” said Konstantin Rozhkov, General Director of RTK Radiology LLC.

“The covid-19 pandemic has significantly accelerated the digital transformation process. Telemedicine consultations, online registration of patients, automation of accounting systems, electronic document management - all this has become significant steps in the development of the regional healthcare system, ”commented Deputy Governor - Minister of HEALTH of the Nizhny Novgorod Region David Melik-Guseinov.
