The number of patients with coronavirus in Bashkiria exceeded 200 thousand people

In Bashkiria, 4,261 cases of coronavirus have been registered over the past day. The total number of infected in the region has reached 203,430, according to the operational headquarters for combating COVID-19 .

During the day, 19 patients died from coronavirus in the republic, in total, 5113 people have died from the consequences of the infection since the beginning of the pandemic. 158,544 residents of the region managed to cope with the disease, 3,944 people were discharged with recovery the day before.

Mass vaccination against coronavirus continues in the republic, 2.4 million people were vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine, and 2.3 million with the second. The authorities of the region explained this by the fact that the republic had reached the required threshold of herd immunity to COVID-19. QR codes about vaccination remained relevant only for mass events with more than 500 participants.

In Bashkiria this week, a decrease in the number of cases of coronavirus per day is recorded. Since the end of January, the daily incidence in the republic has been growing against the backdrop of the spread of “omicron”, record levels were recorded in the region every day for three weeks, the maximum was recorded on February 18 – the diagnosis was confirmed in 4504 people.

In early February, the head of the country's Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, stated that Bashkiria was among the regions where a subspecies of the BA.2 omicron strain was found. According to open data analyst Alexander Dragan, if this virus subtype spreads, the fifth wave of COVID-19 in Bashkiria and Russia could be double.
