The administration of US President Joe Biden will introduce new sanctions against 200 Russian individuals and legal entities. It is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

According to the publication, the sanctions list will include "governors and family members of Russian officials."

In addition, sanctions will be imposed against companies in the military-industrial complex (MIC), manufacturers of related materials, technology companies and networks that are "allegedly involved in circumventing the sanctions."

It is expected that the US Treasury, together with the EU, will update the sanctions list this week.

The details of the new sanctions package were published by Bloomberg, citing sources among European officials. According to the agency, the United States plans to strengthen export controls, introduce additional restrictions against the defense and energy sectors of Russia, financial institutions and several individuals. At the same time, EU countries intend to impose sanctions against Alfa-Bank, Rosbank and Tinkoff Bank, as well as ban Russian citizens from holding positions in European infrastructure companies, the agency noted.

Reuters, citing sources, wrote that the EU could ban more "Russian propaganda media" and exclude more Russian banks from the SWIFT interbank information transfer system. Other proposals include restrictions against Rosatom and its leadership. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, indicated that new restrictive measures could be introduced by February 24, the anniversary of the start of the special operation in Ukraine.
