The anthrax-infected MEAT of a slaughtered bull was destroyed in Chuvashia, the state veterinary service of the republic reports.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of the village of Staroye Aktashevo, Tsivilsky district, slaughtered a bull-calf infected with anthrax for meat on his personal subsidiary plot and sold it. The meat was found and seized on March 23 from two residents of Chuvashia.
“From the discovered meat and from the places of its storage, samples were taken for laboratory testing for anthrax. As a result of laboratory studies, the DNA of the anthrax pathogen was found in the samples taken ... Employees of the veterinary service, in the presence of representatives of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR administration, burned slaughter products in a mobile incinerator ( furnaces for burning - ed.) of the detected slaughter products, as well as disinfection measures were taken," the message says.
According to the interregional department of the Rosselkhoznador, the government emergency anti-epizootic commission of Chuvashia decided not to quarantine for anthrax in the village of Yaushi, Cheboksary municipal district, where the meat of a sick bull was found. "In the areas where it was stored and found, disinfection measures were taken. There are no susceptible animals at the site where the anthrax transmission factor was detected in the village of Yaushi," the report says.
Earlier it was reported that the regional SUSK opened a criminal case under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of veterinary rules." According to the investigation, the owner of the subsidiary farm has not vaccinated animals against anthrax since 2022. As a result, the suspect's neighbor, who participated in the slaughter of the bull, his wife, and another resident were infected with anthrax.
