In July 2022, specialists from the State Breeding Service of Buryatia, together with the Barnaulskoye Breeding Enterprise, carried out the first successful transplantation of cattle embryos in the history of the republic.
Transplantation of dairy and beef cattle embryos took place in two farms in Buryatia - Rubin LLC in the Kabansky district and Blagodatnoye LLC in the Bichursky district. Embryos were obtained from high-value parental pairs of black-and-white, Simmental and Kazakh white-headed breeds.
The first embryo transfer calf appeared at Rubin LLC. The primary examination of the specialists of the State Breeding Service showed that the newborn bull meets the standards. The calf feeds on the MILK of the recipient cow and thereby receives passive immunity in order to adapt to local living conditions. The calf is only 6 days old, but it significantly surpasses its peers in external characteristics, shows intensive growth and good weight gain.
“The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Buryatia has decided to apply the technology of transplantation of high-quality embryos to form a high-quality breeding core in the dairy and beef cattle breeding of Buryatia. This will make it possible to quickly build up a highly productive herd for breeding, including abroad. Today, applications for embryo transplantation are also received from other farms of the republic. Farmers can receive subsidies in the amount of 95% for the purchase of embryos,” said Bair Lasaranov, HEAD of the State Breeding Service.
The meeting of the subcommittee on regional and border cooperation of the Russian-Mongolian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, held in Ulan-Ude, showed that Mongolian agricultural producers are interested in importing pedigree cattle from Buryatia. The sale of pedigree cattle to Mongolia will contribute to the implementation of the national project "International Cooperation and Export".
