Labor productivity increased at a feed mill in the Leningrad Region

In the Leningrad region, at the Gatchina feed mill, the active stage of the implementation of the national project "Labor Productivity" has been completed.
For six months, RCC experts not only trained the enterprise project team in the basics of lean manufacturing, but also helped implement these tools at the plant.
The production of extruded petfood was chosen as a pilot stream, since this product accounts for 30% of the total production, the number of orders and the risks of their non-fulfillment are growing, and the site is also labor-intensive to manage.
Key problems were identified in the reference area for packaging products - periodic stops of the filling machine and a long time in search of packaging film. To solve them, equipment maintenance cards for operators and maintenance personnel were developed.
Together with experts, a "spaghetti diagram" was drawn up, clearly showing all movements. On its basis, the arrangement of equipment is optimized, unnecessary movement of products is excluded. The new approach made it possible to shorten the way of moving products by 1152 meters. The total process time for the production of extruded feed was reduced by 4.6% or 36 minutes from 773 to 737 minutes, and the output increased from 24.5 tons to 29 tons per shift.
It should be reminded that today 45 enterprises of the Leningrad region have already joined the national project "Labor Productivity", 12 of which are supported by the RCC. Processing industries, agricultural enterprises, transport, trade, and construction industries can become participants. To do this, you need to register and apply on the site performance.rf.
