
US President Joe Biden warned Chinese President Xi Jinping about China's dependence on Western investment after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in March this year. Biden spoke about this in an interview with CNN, reports REUTERS .
So, after the meeting between Xi Jinping and Putin, the American president phoned the Chinese leader, reminded him that Beijing relies on Western investment , and told him to "be careful." “I told [Xi] this is not a threat. This is an observation,” Biden said.
According to him, he also informed Xi Jinping that after the start of the military operation in Ukraine , about 600 American corporations left the Russian market, and the Chinese economy is now even more dependent on the West than the Russian one was.
Xi Jinping paid an official visit to Moscow from March 20 to 22. As a result of the visit, the leaders of the states agreed to expand the scale of trade, strengthen bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, technology, agriculture, financial and industrial sectors. Putin and Xi Jinping also signed two joint documents on a plan to develop key areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation until 2030 and to deepen relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction.
Later, in an interview with RUSSIA 24 TV channel, Putin said that on March 20 he held an informal part of the negotiations with Xi Jinping at his residence in the Kremlin. According to him, they spoke slowly, "sitting by the fireplace and drinking tea."
