In France, on the night of January 1, 874 cars were burned, said Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin.

“The number of burned cars is decreasing compared to previous years, as is the number of attacks on police officers,” he said. According to Darmanen, hooligans burned more than 1,300 cars in 2019. He did not provide data for last year, as there was a curfew in the country due to the pandemic.

According to the HEAD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 440 people were detained in the country overnight, of which 381 were taken into custody. Compared to 2019, the number of arrests on New Year's Eve has increased.

According to Darmanen, more than 95,000 policemen and gendarmes were on duty on the night of January 1.
