A seasonal increase in ARVI infection is superimposed on the outbreak of the omicron strain. Thus, the number of cases in the region over the past week amounted to 25.9 thousand cases, which is significantly higher than the previous week.

Infectious disease DOCTOR, chief physician of Invitro-Siberia Andrey Pozdnyakov, in a commentary to RBC Novosibirsk, noted that now the symptoms of the disease caused by omicron are typical of a common ARVI. “The symptoms are so general that it is unlikely to put COVID-19 on the basis of the clinical picture alone,” the expert said.

The region has introduced a number of measures to counter the spread of the outbreak.
