A new method for improving the quality of pig fertilization is being implemented at the Tyumen pig complex "Sibagro"

According to the chief technologist of the production technology department Sergey Krivonogov, some boars can show excellent laboratory indicators, but their ability to fertilize remains low. The reason may lie in the structural features of spermatozoa, such as the integrity of the acrosome, membrane and tail. To further study the structure of spermatozoa, specialists decided to use the staining method. This innovation has not yet become widespread in RUSSIA, so employees underwent training in artificial insemination from the international company "PIC" at the SIO laboratory of the Tyumen pig complex. During the training, they not only became familiar with the new method, but also improved their skills in assessing the quality of semen based on mathematical reliability, including a repeatability test. TyumenThe Sibagro pig complex also serves as a breeding and genetic center with reproductive status for three breeds of pigs: Large White, Landrace and Duroc.
