The initiative group from the village of Novaya Chigla is convinced that the new complex is a real ecological bomb for the region. According to them, sanitary standards do not protect against emissions of hazardous substances and persistent odors, and the proximity to the Chigla River, which flows into the Bityug, threatens large-scale pollution of the soil and water.
Among the main arguments against the project: degradation of air and water quality, increased morbidity, and a threat to the usual way of life. There are currently more than 100 signatures under the appeal.
"Abireg" also took comments from Olga Krutova, a representative of the environmental commission of the Russian Geographical Society, a candidate of geographical sciences, and an associate professor at the Voronezh State University. According to her, "Agroeko" began construction in an open field, right next to the village of Novaya Chigla, and most residents learned about the project after construction had begun.
Public hearings passed unnoticed, formally only representatives of the village council noted them. In fact, there was no discussion with the population. People, including pensioners and summer residents, were left without information and participation.
The expert emphasizes: there are no labor resources in the village - there are mainly pensioners and seasonal residents. At the same time, vacancies at the complex imply hard work for low wages, which is not interesting to locals. Most likely, employers will bring in migrants: the premises of the former collective farm have already been bought out for dormitories and canteens.
Ms. Krutova emphasizes thatThe pig complex will endanger private farms, increase the risk of infections and destroy the local ecology. The proximity of the complex to the river is especially alarming - only 500 meters to the water: probable emissions can lead to the death of fish, mass "blooming" and poisoning of water bodies with hazardous waste, significantly exceeding traditional fertilizers in terms of hazard class. Not only drinking water, but also popular tourist routes along Bityug are under possible attack.
The opinions of residents, summer residents and environmentalists are unanimous: the AgroEco project is a direct blow to the ecology and the future of the Talovsky District, and its implementation will destroy the usual life and nature of the region.
We add that in 2021, AgroEco already launched a pig complex in the Talovsky District. According to the company, the full capacity of the site is designed to simultaneously accommodate 34 thousand heads.
