“The agro-industrial complex is one of the key sectors in the region’s economy, on which our food security depends. Government support contributes to the sustainable development of the industry . This is evidenced by the growth in agricultural and food production in the region. In 2023, the volume of financing for the agricultural industry amounted to 6.4 billion rubles, of which 2.6 billion rubles were raised from the federal budget, 3.8 billion were from the regional budget. At the same time, the volume of subsidies increased by 14% compared to the 2022 level,” said Gleb Nikitin.
Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Sanosyan noted that the work of farmers largely depends on external factors, in particular, weather conditions.
“Based on these specifics, at the beginning of the year we budget funds for our main programs and after that we periodically allocate additional funding to areas that are most in demand. For example, during 2023, the total amount of state support for the agricultural sector increased by a billion rubles,” Andrey Sanosyan emphasized.
Nikolai Denisov , Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, explained that various financial support measures are provided for agricultural enterprises.
“In 2023, 2.2 billion rubles of subsidies were allocated for the development of the livestock industry: to create dairy and MEAT livestock farming facilities, to support livestock breeding, meat and MILK production . Support for the crop growing industry amounted to 1.7 billion rubles - funds were aimed at supporting producers of grain, potatoes, vegetables, oilseeds and industrial crops. 600 million rubles were spent on preferential lending programs, and almost 300 million on grants for farms. Over 1.2 billion rubles were allocated from the budget for the implementation of projects related to the development of rural areas in the region - the construction of housing for rural workers, the improvement of public spaces, the construction of sports and children's playgrounds, the overhaul of social institutions, and other areas,” the minister said.
