First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Valentin Zaichuk stated this at a meeting with industry veterans and honored agricultural workers on the eve of the professional holiday in Zhabinka, BELTA correspondent reports.

Summing up the results of the agricultural year, the first deputy chairman noted that, in general, the results in the crop production industry are encouraging. “100 thousand tons of vegetables have been collected - half of the republican volume. The Luninets district can feed the entire republic and the city of Moscow with carrots, and the Stolin district can feed the same cabbage. Today, half of the volume in the vegetable sector is produced in the Brest region. These are mainly farms. Today we do not burden our agricultural organizations to do this. Anyone who wants, who has experience, is welcome," said Valentin Zaychuk.

The country's leadership has set the task of providing the population with greenhouse vegetables - cucumbers, tomatoes - of its own production during the off-season period. “We will modernize the greenhouses, we will do a project. This is an expensive, costly pleasure. But, I think, we will approach this in order to provide ourselves (at least in the region) during this period - November, December, January - with vegetables. And in the republic as a whole it is also planned to close this issue,” added the first vice-governor.

In Zhabinka today there was a meeting with veterans and honored workers of agro-industrial production, which is traditionally organized by the regional agro-industrial union on the eve of the professional holiday. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Zhabinkovsky District Executive Committee Andrei Kuzmich, representatives of executive authorities , heads of large farms in the region, and trade union organizations.

Addressing the meeting participants, executive DIRECTOR of the regional agro-industrial union Sergei Ashmyantsev noted that the current achievements and successes of the agricultural industry would not be possible without the contribution of the older generation.

"The region has collected 2 million tons of grain, including corn and rapeseed. 2,150 thousand tons of MILK are expected with a milk yield of over 7.1 thousand kg. Good indicators have been obtained in other areas. Today, the Brest region is the absolute leader in the agricultural sector of the republic. All this has been achieved thanks to the hard work, economic attitude of leaders and specialists of different generations of the agricultural industry. For their work in different years, 48 ​​people became Heroes of Socialist Labor in the region, and two heads of collective farms were awarded this title twice. The title of “Honored Worker of Agriculture" in the region was awarded 23 people,” said Sergei Ashmyantsev.

Currently, 47 thousand people are employed in the agro-industrial sector of the Brest region.
