Turkey production to reach 550,000 tons by 2025

The development of the turkey sub-sector was the main topic of the meeting of the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dzhambulat Khatuov with representatives of the National Association of Turkey Producers and the business community.

Over the past ten years, this segment in the country has shown steady growth, RUSSIA ranks fifth in the world in terms of turkey MEAT production. In 2020, this figure increased by 19.4% and amounted to 330 thousand tons. According to the results of the first half of the year, it increased by 6.3% to 172.3 thousand tons. According to the forecast of the association, by 2025 the volume will reach 550 thousand tons.

During the meeting, the participants discussed issues of veterinary well-being, the supply of breeding material, technical modernization, increasing production and expanding sales markets. Particular attention was paid to state support for the sub-sector and mechanisms for agricultural insurance, including in the event of emergencies.
