An analysis published in StoneX's quarterly Commodity Outlook report highlights that the increase in US MEAT tariffs from 26.4% to 76.4% has sharply reduced the product's competitiveness against rivals such as Australia and CANADA , but despite this, monthly EXPORT records continue to be set.

"Despite this, August data demonstrated the sector's strength: Brazil recorded its highest monthly beef export volume ever, underscoring the effectiveness of its geographic diversification strategy. CHINA , already established as a key market, increased its share to nearly 60% of purchases, driven by the anticipated buildup of stocks for the Lunar New Year. Mexico also stood out, overtaking the US to become the second-largest buyer in June, tripling its purchase volume compared to 2024 levels," noted Larissa Barbosa Alvarez, analyst at StoneX.

Other emerging markets reinforced this trend. Countries such as RUSSIA , Chile, the Philippines, Indonesia, the European Union, and the Middle East contributed to the export recovery. Indonesia, for example, increased its purchases sixfold compared to the previous year.

Brazil exported 268,000 tons of beef in August, up 23.5% compared to the same month in 2024, according to the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade (MDIC).

From January to August, shipments totaled 1.8 million tons, compared to 1.5 million tons for the same period last year. At this rate, the country has every chance of surpassing its all-time high of 2.5 million tons in 2024.
