One of the main agricultural regions in Italy offered friendship to the Tomsk region

On the initiative of the Italian side, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a meeting was held between the Governor of the Tomsk Region Sergey Zhvachkin and the Governor of the Italian region of Apulia Michele Emiliano

“Friendship with RUSSIA is as important for us today as the economy, and we are happy to offer it to your region, because we have heard a lot about you,” Michele Emiliano told his Tomsk colleague.

The Tomsk Governor emphasized in response that despite the differences, the two regions have much in common and can connect even more.

Thus, four out of six Tomsk universities cooperate with Italy on the topic of aerospace research, and Puglia is an aerospace hub.

Tomsk enterprises in the field of agro-industrial complex and timber industry are actively purchasing Italian equipment, and Italians are interested in importing Tomsk products of deep wood processing.

“I know that Apulia is one of the main agrarian regions of Italy,” added Sergei Zhvachkin, Governor of the Tomsk Region. - A couple of years ago, Tomsk started exporting organic farming products to Europe. We are reviving flax growing, our beginner cheese makers have great ambitions - of course, all this requires the involvement of experience and technology, which you have colossal. And of course, it's great that you've heard a lot about the Tomsk region, but it's still better to see it once."

The Apulian HEAD accepted the invitation to visit Tomsk without much hesitation and promised to work out in detail the possible areas of cooperation before the visit.
