The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to change the veterinary rules for ASF

The Ministry of Agriculture proposed to exclude from the veterinary rules for the fight against African swine fever (ASF) the requirement to increase the boundaries of the epizootic focus. The corresponding draft order is published on the official portal of regulatory legal acts.

We are talking about the second paragraph of paragraph 36. it states that the radius of the outbreak should be at least five kilometers from the boundaries of the affected farm. The ministry explained that this requirement complicates the implementation of protective measures at enterprises with a high level of protection. The fact is that the increase in the boundaries of the focus will require limiting the movement of susceptible animals and products from them. This may lead to unnecessary additional costs.

New requirements will be introduced from the date of the official publication of the document, but no later than March 1, 2027. Recall that since March of this year, changes have already been made to veterinary requirements, tightening control by pig breeders. According to them, the walking keeping of pigs and their contact with other animals are prohibited, as well as the quarantine period for ASF has been increased to 30 days and the period for withdrawing a sick livestock has been reduced to a week.
