Cystitis is a disease that for some reason is considered “inconvenient” and even shameful, especially when
it comes to “honeymoon cystitis”. Although this disease is no different from others and can be treated in the same way. How does it appear and what to do? The answer to this and other questions in the studio "Belarus 1" was given by the urologist-andrologist Alexander Batsenko. How does cystitis manifest itself? Statistics say that every tenth woman may experience cystitis. 50% during the year may have repeated cases, and in 5-10% this disease becomes chronic. The disease is characterized by pain and frequent urination, and urination is also painful. The temperature may rise.
An important symptom is blood excreted in the urine. In this case, you must immediately consult a
DOCTOR. Bladder cancer can be "masked" by cystitis, it is important not to miss the time of diagnosis and start treatment as soon as possible. Is it hypothermia? Previously, it was believed that cystitis occurs after hypothermia. More recent research says that it is only a foothold or push against something. In itself, extremely unpleasant, cystitis in addition can provoke more serious problems, up to inflammation of the upper urinary tract and hospitalization.
With any cystitis, inflammation of the bladder mucosa occurs. There are a lot of factors, and one of them is sexual contacts: excessive, intense, without proper hygiene or protection (sexually transmitted infections can become a provocateur). Also, cystitis, which is romantically called the "honeymoon disease", is associated with a period of high testosterone levels. Why "honeymoon"? It would seem, what is the connection? Sexual contact should end not with such symptoms, but with pleasure. Meanwhile, the statistics are sad: if there are more than 9 such contacts per month, in a certain category of women, the intensity itself leads to the development of cystitis. However, the numbers are purely individual and in each case it is worth starting from personal characteristics.
There are predisposing factors. Each person has his own flora, and close contact between a man and a woman involves an exchange of it. This can cause a so-called super-aggressive state, and those bacteria that were not pathogenic before become more aggressive. This happens against the background of intensity, mechanical injury. In addition, there are infections that are normal for one partner, and for the second they will become pathogenic. What are the risk factors? The reasons can be: sexual activity, changes in muscle tone, bacterial infections, hormones, physiological characteristics and poor hygiene, heredity.
Insufficient muscle tone in the pelvic region can generally change the position of the urethra in relation to other genitalia, creating conditions for reflux: the reflux of bacteria that are normal for the vagina, but which change the flora of the bladder and provoke inflammation.
In women, a short and wide urethra is an excellent gateway for bacterial infections, many of which cause inflammation of the bladder. The most common of them are E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus, and so on. Do not forget about sexually transmitted diseases: herpes infection and human papillomavirus.
According to some reports, cystitis is common in older women whose hormone levels have changed. But it can also begin in the period before menstruation: the balance of estrogens changes, and this leads to the fact that conditions are created for the introduction of bacteria. The mucous membrane becomes more pliable and sensitive to penetration - this also contributes to the development of inflammation. How to prevent honeymoon cystitis? Be sure to follow basic hygiene rules - for example, change underwear in a timely manner. It is important to drink plenty of water and go to the bathroom regularly because a full bladder is more vulnerable to infections. And when it is "washed", the bacteria are removed. It is worth being careful with any chemical reagents - they can cause allergies.
Provocateurs are
ALCOHOLand cigarettes. Alcohol reduces immunity and "directs" venous blood to the pelvic organs. Smoking provokes a change in the epithelium of the bladder mucosa.
It is worth explaining to teenagers that there is no concept of "safe sex": any sexual contact involves the use of condoms. The more partners, the more chances to get sick. According to statistics, more than five per year is a prerequisite for the development of cystitis.
Many women stop treatment as soon as the symptoms pass. Be sure to consult a doctor and follow all the recommendations in full so that cystitis does not become chronic.
