“The harvesting of grain crops is being completed: 96% of the sown areas have been harvested. The plan for grain production has already been overfulfilled in the Nizhny Novgorod region by 20%. More than 1.7 million tons of grain were produced.
The final results of the harvest have yet to be summed up. But we are sure that the grain produced this year is enough not only to provide our bakery enterprises with raw materials and meet the feed needs of the livestock industry, but also to send some of the products outside the region,” said Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
This year, grain crops were sown in the Nizhny Novgorod region on an area of 640 thousand hectares, which is 60% of the total sown area of agricultural crops.
“Grain occupies a central place among the strategic products for ensuring our food security. Thanks to all the farmers who are working today for the benefit of the region,” Gleb Nikitin said.
Nikolai Denisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that agricultural enterprises are currently processing grain: removing impurities and bringing it to the required condition for subsequent storage.
“The grain quality of the new crop is being assessed. To date, 500 thousand tons of wheat have been tested - almost half of this volume is classified as a food group, the rest is fodder grain. Proven in the amount of 20 thousand tons of rye - all food. Work on checking the quality of grain continues,” Nikolay Denisov explained.
Grain quality is checked by the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Nizhny Novgorod Reference Center of the Rosselkhoznadzor".
State support for the crop industry of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2022 is 1.6 billion rubles.
