The Union of Journalists asked to allow the media to advertise beer and drugs

A tax moratorium should be introduced and the media should be allowed to advertise beer and prescription drugs, the Union of Journalists insists, pointing outthat these measures will allow "getting through difficult times" for most newsrooms

To help the media amid sanctions and reduced advertising revenue, it is necessary to control the rise in communication costs and allow publications to advertise beer and prescription drugs. Such proposals are contained in the appeal of the Union of Journalists of RUSSIA (UJR), sent to the State Duma and the government, according to the organization's website.

The growth in the cost of Russian-made paper should also be controlled, according to the SZHR, offering to ensure this "up to a moratorium." In addition, the organization is confident in the need to suspend tax audits of the media and simplify the procedure for accelerated renewal or renewal of broadcasting licenses for 2022 and 2023.

“It must be taken into account that a balanced assessment of events by the media is a task of national importance,” the Union of Journalists stressed.

The implementation of these and a number of other proposed measures, the content of which is not specified in the message, will allow Russian journalists to "survive difficult times," the RJR is sure.

According to RBC Petersburg, the price of a standard ream of paper has increased six times in two weeks since the beginning of March. Prices have also increased in other cities: Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk and Petrozavodsk.

At the end of March, the FAS began an audit, promising to take action if it found "unreasonable price increases by individual sellers." In early April, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that paper prices were returning to pre-sanction levels. “Due to the fact that the company occupies about 40% of the market, the shortage of products became noticeable, and prices really rose a lot due to this temporary local shortage, more than 20 times for some resellers,” Viktor Evtukhov.
