The initiators of imposing sanctions against RUSSIA are bandits, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega said at a meeting with State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin in Managua. This was reported by the press service of the legislative body.

“They (Western countries) do not understand that their criminal actions in the economic and financial sphere weaken not only themselves, but the entire world,” Ortega said.

The president of the country also noted that NATO countries are aggravating the conflict in Ukraine . The alliance will not be able to win in a combat zone, Ortega believes.

The leader of Nicaragua declared the republic’s solidarity with Russia.

“We have always followed the leadership of Russia <...>. This gave us the strength to resist and win the war that the United States imposed on us,” Ortega said.

Volodin is in Managua on a working visit. The Chairman of the State Duma, during negotiations with Ortega, called Nicaragua a key partner of Moscow in Latin America. According to Volodin, Nicaragua managed to build a dialogue with the branches of government in Russia in a short time.

Volodin also handed over a letter from President Vladimir Putin to the President of Nicaragua. In his message, the Russian leader noted that the partnership between the two countries is developing dynamically and is based on the traditions of friendship and mutual respect. The parties are implementing major projects in various fields, Putin noted.
