Almost a quarter of the Russians surveyed (24%) began to smoke less after the lifting of the self-isolation regime and the lifting of quarantine restrictions, according to a study by the Superjob job search service (available from RBC).
The survey, which was conducted from April 5 to May 13, involved 1.6 thousand respondents from all districts. The respondents are the economically active population over the age of 18, all smokers.
During the quarantine itself, 14% of Russians surveyed noted that they smoke more than before the pandemic. However, after the lifting of the self-isolation regime, only 5% of respondents began to smoke more often. The majority of respondents (60%) have not changed their habits and smoke the same amount.
At the same time, compared with 2008, Russians began to smoke less, the study says. This applies to both those who plan to quit and those who are not going to do so. The former, on average, began to smoke three cigarettes less per day - not 13, but ten; for those who do not plan to quit, their number decreased from 15 to 13 per day.
