The World Economic Forum (WEF), which was scheduled to be held in Davos, Switzerland in January 2022, has been postponed indefinitely. This is stated in the message on the forum website. According to preliminary data, the WEF can be held in early summer 2022.
The reason for the cancellation of the January summit was called the "uncertainty associated with the outbreak" of infections with the "omicron" strain that causes covid-19 .
“The conditions of the pandemic make it extremely difficult to hold a global face-to-face meeting,” the WEF said in a statement. The organizers of the forum explained that its preparation was carried out in close cooperation with the Swiss authorities, as well as with independent experts, and in the end it was decided that the high contagiousness of "omicron" and the possibility of imposing travel restrictions make a delay absolutely necessary.
