Apple Suspends MacBook Warranty in Russia

APPLE services have terminated warranty service for MacBooks and iPads in RUSSIA due to a shortage of parts, the company's technical support service told RIA Novosti.

“The iPad will no longer be accepted at authorized service centers, like the MacBook ... Since there are no spare parts, delivery is not expected in the near future,” technical support said.

On March 1, 2022, Apple imposed restrictions on Russia due to the military operation in Ukraine. The official online store of the organization has ceased to work on the territory of the country.

In early May, the Ministry of Industry and Trade included Apple products in the list of goods allowed for import under parallel import, that is, without the consent of the copyright holder. In the middle of the month, the government simplified the rules for importing smartphones, computers and other electronics into Russia. The re: Store network, which specializes in the sale of equipment from this company, began to close stores in Russia, explaining this by restructuring logistics.

In December 2022, Apple decided to cancel the lease of the Russian office in the Romanov Dvor business center near the Kremlin. According to one of the interlocutors of RBC, with the onset of the covid-19 pandemic in 2020, this office was not fully used. The decision to terminate the lease was made after the announcement of partial mobilization in Russia in September 2022.
