A group of deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine submitted a draft resolution on the deprivation of deputy mandates of four representatives of the Opposition Platform - For Life (OPPL), including the head of its political council Viktor Medvedchuk and co-founder of the party Vadim Rabinovich, Interfax Ukraine reports.

The draft resolution was posted on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on April 26, but the text of the document is not in the legislative framework. As one of the authors of the resolution, Oleg Dunda, a deputy from the Servant of the People, told the agency, in addition to Medvedchuk and Rabinovich, it is proposed to strip the mandates of the deputies of the Opposition Platform for Life, Taras Kozak and Alexander Kachny.

“The main and most important goal of the resolution is to terminate the deputy mandate of people’s deputies who have long supported the ideology of the “Russian world,” Dunda said.

In mid-April, the activities of the Opposition Platform for Life faction in the Verkhovna Rada were suspended. A month earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, amid martial law, decided to suspend the activities of 11 parties, including the Opposition Platform for Life. The latter has repeatedly advocated friendly relations with Russia and criticized the Ukrainian authorities for external control by the United States . The co-founder of the party, Vadim Rabinovich, as radio Hromadske wrote, left for Israel in February.

On April 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the SBU announced the detention of Medvedchuk. A few days later, the head of the political council of the Opposition Platform for Life was arrested without the right to bail.

Zelensky, Medvedchuk himself in a video message, as well as his wife, TV presenter Oksana Marchenko, offered to exchange the politician for prisoners of war. At first, it was about Ukrainian servicemen, later - about two Britons, who, according to Marchenko, were captured by the military of Russia and the DPR.

The Kremlin stated that Medvedchuk is not a Russian citizen and has nothing to do with Russia's military operation in Ukraine. At the end of April, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, again stated that there was no talk of an exchange of Mevedchuk.
