September 21, MINSK . A republican seminar-meeting dedicated to the development of livestock farming has started in the Minsk region, BELTA reports.

According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sergei Bartosh, the livestock sector is one of the main ones in agriculture, and much attention is paid to its development. “Today a republican seminar-meeting “On the development of livestock farming in Belarus” started in the Minsk region. About 250 people are participating in the event. Tomorrow scientists will also join us , with whom we will analyze theoretical aspects, and also discuss setting new tasks in the industry,” - said Sergei Bartosh.

The delegations visited leading agricultural enterprises in the Minsk region. At Novopolessky-Agro LLC, Belaruskali-Agro OJSC, seminar participants got acquainted with the work of a new dairy complex for 2.4 thousand heads. OJSC Kozlovichi-Agro assessed the work of the Lesuny dairy complex. At JSC "Rechen" LLC "Belaruskali-Agro" the participants were shown technologies for raising heifers, and at JSC "Krasnodvortsy" they were told about the technological processes of MILK production and the progress of construction of a new complex.

“I would like to note that in addition to the Minsk region, it is necessary to develop dairy complexes in the Gomel, Mogilev and Vitebsk regions. It is worth paying attention to those regions where animals at the facilities do not have good average daily weight gain, where there is no return on production, as well as a low level of profitability. In addition, as the HEAD of state emphasized, it is necessary to introduce the practice of transferring livestock from disadvantaged farms to more prosperous ones, where they know how to raise animals and there are no deaths,” he emphasizedMinister of Agriculture and Food.

He also drew attention to the prospects of building shelters to house animals. “One such shed can accommodate from 800 to 1 thousand animals, and the payback on the structure itself will be approximately 2.5-3 years. At the same time, a large number of workers are not required to inspect animals, and due to this they can be provided with decent wages ", added Sergei Bartosh.

Speaking about feed, he emphasized that the harvesting of perennial grasses will begin soon. “The volumes of feed should remain at the level of last year, but in any case we are keeping this issue under control. So, if some farms have a shortage of feed, we will organize the transfer of the missing volumes from more prosperous farms. This measure will reduce the number of livestock deaths and increase average daily gain of animals,” the minister concluded.
