August 6, Gomel. Specialists of the Gomel regional inspectorate of the Gosstandart have revealed a number of violations in the use of food colorings in products, BelTA learned from the regional inspectorate.
Hazardous products for the content of dyes were found in circulation during inspections of business entities in the southeast of the country. So, in peanuts in the glaze "MIX" (manufacturer LLC "Everton", RUSSIA ), the permissible level of dye content is doubled.
The results of the research showed that in the composition of the peanut mix with different flavors (shrimp, crab, bacon), the Russian manufacturer used a synthetic dye - brilliant blue FCF (E133), not indicated in the label. Also, in peanuts in glaze with bacon flavor, the content of dyes in the combination exceeded the permissible level by 2.3 times. Crab flavored nuts were also in colored glaze. At the same time, in the combination "colorful" ingredients exceeded the permissible level by 2.1 times, the red dye Ponceau 4R (E124) - by 1.4 times. More than 2 times the norm of yellow dye FCF (E110) "sunset" in peanuts with shrimp flavor.
According to experts, fruit fillings "Empire Jam" (manufacturer - LLC "Empire Jam", Russia) also turned out to be unsafe. Unacceptable food colorings were used in their production. For example, in the fruit filling "kiwi" - dyes tartrazine (E102) and blue brilliant FCF (E133), in the fruit filling "raspberry" - azorubine (E122, carmoisine).
With regard to non-conforming products, the inspection took the necessary measures.
"For a more attractive appearance of products, to enhance or restore their color after technological operations, and in general for a variety of shades, food dyes are used. Synthetic dyes have some advantages compared to natural ones. For example, they give brighter colors and combinations, are less sensitive to technological influences Therefore, manufacturers use them much more often," the inspection specialists explained. The inspection also noted that synthetic dyes do not bring any benefit to humans, but they can be hazardous to HEALTH - they negatively affect the activity and attention of children.
In the European Numerical System, food additives, including dyes, are denoted by the letter E and a numerical index from 100 to 199 (E100 to E199). The Technical Regulations of the Customs Union "Safety Requirements for Food Additives, Flavorings and Technological Aids" (TR TS 029/2012) set the maximum permissible levels of synthetic dyes both individually and in total quantity when a number of dyes are used simultaneously or in combination. In addition, the requirements of the regulation prohibit the use of dyes in more than 20 product categories, including MILK , honey, wine, tomato paste, coffee, mature and unripe cheeses, etc.
The inspection recommended limiting the amount of products with synthetic dyes consumed at one time. When choosing goodies for children, parents are advised to give preference to those products that contain natural dyes.
