The departmental edition of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR “Veterinary and Life” reports that, according to the conclusion of experts from the Federal Center for Animal HEALTH (FSBI ARRIAH), a tense epizootic situation for foot and mouth disease has developed in RUSSIA and neighboring countries.
Last year, Mongolia reported nine outbreaks of FMD type O to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). In late December, the focus of this zoonosis was registered for the first time in 50 years in the Belyaevsky district of the Orenburg region. In mid-January 2022, the veterinary service of Kazakhstan recognized the fact of FMD in the Karaganda region.
In connection with the spread of foot-and-mouth disease virus, FGBI ARRIAH, as the OIE regional reference laboratory, will conduct interlaboratory comparison tests (ICT) from April to June. Applications for participation have already been received from veterinary laboratories from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Moldova.
Panels of encrypted samples will be sent to ISI participants to determine antibodies to FMDV. After completing the tests, they will submit the results to ARRIAH.
