In three municipalities of Bashkiria, quarantine for a dangerous infection in cattle was lifted

In Baimaksky and Abzelilovsky districts of Bashkiria, as well as in the city of Sibay, restrictions on lumpy (nodular) dermatitis of cattle have been lifted. The corresponding order, signed by the HEAD of the region Radiy Khabirov, was published on the official portal of legal information.

In the Baimaksky district, quarantine was introduced in the village of Pervoe Turkmenevo, in the personal subsidiary farm of one of the residents of the village of Second Turkmenevo, as well as on the territory of two dairy farms. In Sibay, restrictions were in effect on the farm of a local entrepreneur.

As RBC Ufa reported, a massive disease of cattle with lumpy dermatitis occurred on November 22 in the village of Pervoe Turkmenevo. The virus spread at lightning speed in the village, 40% of the livestock were infected there. Due to the outbreak in the Baymaksky district and Sibay, a state of emergency was declared.

As part of quarantine measures, more than 1.5 thousand farm animals had to be destroyed. Their owners were compensated. Later it was found that the reason for the appearance of the virus in the territory of Bashkiria was the unauthorized import of small cattle from abroad. To prevent outbreaks of dangerous infections, the republican Ministry of Agriculture recommended organizing controlled grazing and head counting of animals with electronic registration in the veterinary service system.

Lumpy dermatitis is caused by a virus. The infection spreads quickly. In sick animals, body temperature rises, there is a loss of live weight and productivity, damage to the eyes and mucous membranes of the respiratory and digestive organs. Nodules (tubercles) appear in the skin and internal organs. Mortality in lumpy skin disease does not exceed 10%, in case of complications, its probability is higher.
