The Ministry of Agriculture of the Kaliningrad Region held a video conference on the results of the work of the livestock industry in 2020, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reported.
The event was attended by specialists from the regional departments of agriculture and agricultural enterprises, as well as the state budgetary institution of the Kaliningrad region "Center for the management of breeding livestock."
During the meeting, the results of the evaluation of cattle dairy and MEAT areas of productivity and other farm animals, as well as issues of state support for agricultural producers and regional state supervision in the field of livestock breeding were summed up.
An important part of the work of animal husbandry is the performance of appraisal - an individual assessment of animals, which establishes their productive and breeding qualities. The results of the assessment of cattle of dairy breeds show the average MILK yield for the finished lactation at the level of 8,909 kg. This is 6% higher than last year. The highest average milk yield - almost 10 thousand kg - was shown by Holstein cows. it is the most common dairy cattle breed in the region. The mean fat and protein scores for the comprehensively assessed animals were 3.84% and 3.37%, respectively.
It should be noted that over the past years, the Kaliningrad region has occupied a leading position in RUSSIA in such an important indicator of agricultural efficiency as milk yield per feed cow. According to experts, the high technological level of agricultural enterprises makes it possible to most effectively use the genetic potential of farm animals, which is reflected in an increase in productive indicators.
Within the framework of the meeting, reports were also presented on the work of laboratories for selection control of milk quality, biochemical analysis of blood and feed, and organization of artificial insemination of farm animals.
