
Inflationary expectations of the population in April rose to the highs of February 2017 and reached 11.9%, according to the materials of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation.
"According to a survey by Infom LLC, commissioned by the Bank of RUSSIA, inflation expectations of the population increased significantly in April. They exceeded the local maximum of December 2020 and reached their maximum values since February 2017. The median estimate of inflation expected in the next 12 months was 11. 9% (+1.8 p.p. compared to March)," the regulator notes.
World Bank: Food prices to rise by 13% in 2021
According to the Central Bank, inflation observed by the population has noticeably increased. Its median estimate was 14.5% (+1.9 percentage points against March).
The inflation forecast of the Bank of Russia for 2021 was raised to 4.7-5.2% from 3.7-4.2%. The balance of risks is shifted towards pro-inflationary ones.
