"You should always act according to the law." Mogilev district police officers on their choice of profession and life principles

Topic news District police officers celebrate their professional holiday in Belarus on November 17. These people in uniform are the first to come to the aid of citizens, they are responsible for solving serious issues, family and neighborly conflicts, and they are also responsible for maintaining public safety. What qualities should a district police officer have, why not only men but also fragile women go into this profession, a BELTA correspondent found out from Mogilev district police officers Darya Osipova and Dmitry Pobortsev.

Darya Osipova has been working as a district police officer for a short time: the young specialist began her service in July this year. The girl shared that the desire to become an employee of the internal affairs bodies is her long-standing dream and goal, for the sake of which she began working since school.

"I am originally from Brest. After the 7th grade in secondary school, I entered the cadet school in Baranovichi, then entered the Mogilev Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In my family, no one wore shoulder straps, I was the first. When I told my parents that I was going to the cadet school, they even tried to dissuade me, because it was a lifelong choice. But I liked the uniform since childhood, and so I insisted on my desire. My relatives supported me then, and they support me now," the girl says. "In general, I did not plan to stay in Mogilev, after studying I was thinking of going home. But I got married - my husband and I studied together at the police academy, so we decided to stay together in Mogilev. So I was assigned to the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs."
Senior colleagues and the staff of the District Department of Internal Affairs received the young specialist very warmly, recalls Darya Osipova. "At first, I didn't fully understand what I would have to deal with in my work. But the cadet school and the MIA Institute tempered my character and gave me a good foundation for further professional growth," she said. "When I came to the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs, the team welcomed me well. They helped me with renting a place to live and provided comfortable conditions at the workplace. Mentoring is well developed here: no one leaves a young specialist alone, each one is assigned an older and more experienced employee, whose help can always be counted on."
In their work, district police officers often encounter troublemakers, scandalmongers, people suffering from ALCOHOL and drug addiction. Each situation and each person, notes Darya Osipova, must be approached as individually as possible. "There are various difficult moments, as in any profession. But here it is important to understand that you not only represent the law , but also help people in difficult life situations. You need to get involved in the problem as much as possible, and never promise a person something that you cannot do," the girl emphasized.
Without the support of a spouse and family, according to Darya Osipova, it is impossible to succeed in any profession. And especially in law enforcement. "If it weren't for my husband, I don't think I would have managed on my own. I have an irregular work schedule: sometimes I need to come early or, on the contrary, stay late. And my husband helps me a lot," she shares. "I try to find a balance in everything. It can be difficult, but I cope. And, to be honest, I don't see myself in any other profession."

To become a district inspector, you need to have more than just good professional knowledge. Human qualities play a major role here. "You need to be conscientious. If you can't help a person, you need to say so directly. You also need resilience and determination, the ability to quickly react to changing situations. Be honest and reasonable," lists Daria Osipova. "I want to continue to improve in this profession, to build a career in the internal affairs agencies. I also like the fact that after college we all went to work "on the ground." This gives you the opportunity to understand and feel many things that you won't understand if you immediately start working in the office."
Daria Osipova shared what problems they are approached with. "Women often come to tell us that their son or husband abuses alcohol. One woman asked for help in placing her son in a LTP because he did not allow her to live normally. We helped speed up the process. Now the woman lives peacefully, her son goes through all the necessary procedures. Alcohol does terrible things to people. And it ruins the life of not only the abuser, but also his loved ones, relatives," the district inspector reasons. "A person's choice is his personal business, until the people around him begin to suffer from this choice."

The young district inspector shared that if there was an opportunity to turn back time, she would still choose this path. "I chose this professional path for myself a long time ago. I go through life with the thought "everything that is done, is done for the best." And if there are any difficulties or difficulties, we will overcome everything. In my professional activities, I am guided by the principle "if you don't know what to do, always act according to the law," summed up Darya Osipova.
District inspector Dmitry Pobortsev has been working in the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Mogilev for 3 years already. He did not join the ranks of law enforcement officers right away: first there was sports , high achievements in it, and then obtaining two higher educations.
"I am a native of Shklov. I was involved in track and field: shot put, discus throw. At the age of 13, I entered the Olympic Reserve School in Bobruisk, where I completed 11 grades. After that, I transferred to the Mogilev Olympic Reserve School. I showed high results in sports: I was a prize winner of the European Games, a multiple champion of Belarus, and a prize winner of international competitions," says Dmitry Pobortsev. "I continued my path as an athlete by entering the relevant faculty at Mogilev State University. At the same time, I began working in a prison, where I worked for more than 6 years."

After studying at a civilian university, Dmitry went to retrain at the Mogilev Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And from that moment on, his path began as a district inspector at the Oktyabrsky District Department of Internal Affairs.
"In three years in the position, you have time to fully study the nuances of the chosen profession. For the first half of this year, I was recognized as the best district police officer and awarded," says Dmitry Pobortsev. "It is difficult to win such a high award. You need to know a large number of regulatory documents, be able to establish normal communication with different categories of people, and approach each issue personally. With this approach, everything will work out in your work, and your career will go uphill."

A district inspector must not only be a professional in his field. "Different people come to us. There are also those who are registered on different types of records. And when communicating, you need to find your own approach to everyone, look for a possible solution to the problem or compromises," he noted. "People come with different situations. Someone has a husband, brother, son in a state ofdrunk, makes scandals, threatens violence. And someone complains about noisy neighbors. With the latter, you can have a preventive conversation, but with the former, you need to react and take measures."

One of the recent cases that Dmitry Pobortsev recalled concerned a troublemaker who, while intoxicated, systematically tortured his elderly mother.

"A man and his mother live on my territory. I told him that if he is brought to administrative responsibility within a year, will cause beatings to his mother, then we will initiate a criminal case against him under Article 154 (torture) of the Criminal Code. He did not believe it, thought that we were joking with him, - says the district police officer. - As a result, four months later we ended up in the prosecutor's office. We talked with the prosecutor, a criminal case was initiated. Now, for eight months, there has not been a single call to this address: life has become calmer." Working as a district police officer gave Dmitry Pobortsev the opportunity to find not only a profession to his liking, but also true friends. "Our service is not easy. And here it is important who works next to you. Everything is built in such a way that even if you have a day off, but a colleague needs help, you will go and help. If I have some kind of blockage, colleagues will also come to the rescue, - he noted. - I have a best friend. We work together at the same support point, live in the same house several entrances away. This is a person you can always rely on, at any minute and second, and it makes no difference whether it is morning, day or night. And if he needs help, I will always lend a shoulder too." To young specialistslaw enforcement officers are always happy. Dmitry Pobortsev noted that everyone once started out the same way as the young people who come to their first job. "Our police station always welcomes new employees. We, more experienced district police officers, teach them everything, share our experience and professional wisdom. And it is pleasant to note that the guys and girls work for a year, a year and a half, and then get promoted from us," he said. "This speaks of the cohesion of our team, the interest of young employees to work and become the best in their field." Family support

is no less important for a district police officer, because they often have to stay late at work, and weekends can suddenly become workdays. "I am the first athlete and the first policeman in the family. My relatives were surprised by the choice, but they always supported me. My wife also understands the difficulty of working as a district police officer, supports me, and creates coziness in our home," says Dmitry Pobortsev. Work is an important part of Dmitry Pobortsev's life. But it is no less important in this routine to always leave time for yourself and your family. "You need to maintain a balance. Then your family will be strong and everything will work out at work," he summed up. Anastasia GUZOVSKAYA, photo by Oleg FOINITSKIY, BELTA.
