MINSK . Representatives of a church located in the agro-town of Dashkovka, Mogilev District, contacted the Mogilev Regional Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) to report the loss of a box containing parishioners' donations and a coin box totaling over Br2,000. This was reported to BelTA by the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcement officials discovered that a 45-year-old local resident with a prior criminal record and no job was involved in the crime. The man used a ladder to climb into the bell tower at night, broke the bars, and entered the church. He took the donations and escaped the same way. Over the course of several days, he spent
the money on food and other items.

Investigators have opened a criminal case against the perpetrator for theft. Part of the money was seized at his residence and will later be returned to the church.
