Representatives of a church located in the agro-town of Dashkovka, Mogilev District, contacted the Mogilev Regional Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) to report the loss of a box containing parishioners' donations and a coin box totaling over Br2,000. This was reported to BelTA by the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcement officials discovered that a 45-year-old local resident with a prior criminal record and no job was involved in the crime. The man used a ladder to climb into the bell tower at night, broke the bars, and entered the church. He took the donations and escaped the same way. Investigators have opened a criminal case against the perpetrator for theft. Part of the money was seized at his residence and will later be returned to the church.
