December 30, MINSK. Chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Republican Referendums Igor Karpenko during the charity event "Our Children" visited the Krivichi special medical and educational vocational school of a closed type. He congratulated the pupils of the center on the New Year holidays and presented gifts for study and HEALTH, BelTA has learned.
“We got acquainted with this institution when I was still working as deputy chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. Since then, we have been constantly in touch,” Igor Karpenko told reporters. “And when I was a minister, this institution was directly subordinate. Even now, these traditions do not change and our friendship continues, because children require special care, especially these guys who ended up in medical and educational institutions of a closed type. Here they undergo training, rehabilitation and at the same time master the profession. This is one of these innovations, which we, together with the teaching staff, implemented directly in Krivichi, so that the guys have the opportunity to get a working specialty and that, having left here, they can socialize, get settled in life.
Igor Karpenko noted that he comes here not only during the action "Our Children": "By tradition, we come here on Children's Day, we keep in touch in every possible way."
By the way, students of the Krivichi vocational school recently came to the Christmas tree in the Minsk circus. Children visit theaters, museums and other institutions throughout the year. According to the chairman of the Central Commission for Elections and Republican Referendums, such events are important not only from the point of view of rehabilitation, but also socialization.
"Every year Igor Vasilyevich comes to us to congratulate our pupils on New Year's holidays. He is always interested in the life of children and how our institution is developing, - said the DIRECTOR of the institution Andrey Dubanevich. - For our part, we are preparing a New Year's performance and a small concert. For the children such meetings are not only important, they are vital.Children should see that the state cares about them, does not leave them and tries to help. The authorities show and guide children so that they understand how to correct their life and destiny in order to become an example in the future for their families. There are many cases when the guys who left us settled down in life quite well. Some of them became volunteers. Now they personally come here with charitable organizations."
Before the start of the festive concert, Igor Karpenko presented a certificate for an exercise bike. In addition, he wished the children good studies and aspirations to improve themselves. The institution was also visited by Deputy Minister of Education Alexander Kadlubay, Rector of the Republican Institute of Vocational Education Valery Golubovsky and First Vice-Rector of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University Svetlana Kopteva. They presented the children with gifts - a printer, sports equipment, books and, of course, sweets.
There are currently 38 pupils aged 12 to 18 in the Krivichi vocational school. A fourth of them are orphans and children left without parental care. Children and adolescents are sent here by a COURT decision for offenses or crimes that do not pose a particular danger to society. As a rule, this is the appearance in a public place while intoxicated , the use of toxic, narcotic substances, petty hooliganism, petty theft. A large socio-pedagogical and psychological service works with the pupils. Minors stay here for a maximum of two years, but no longer than until they reach the age of 18.
Children who studied at lyceums and colleges before entering the special school take vocational training courses here, receive the profession of a car repairman, plasterer-painter, tiler-cladder, vegetable grower. Since 2018, training in a number of construction specialties has expanded. You can get two specialties. Upon leaving the institution, adolescents are restored at the place of study or are employed if they have reached the age of 18.
By decision of the court, minors may leave the institution ahead of schedule in connection with the successful development of the program, academic success, and exemplary behavior. The employees of the school track their further fate throughout the year. Only up to 1% of former pupils return to such institutions again.
