On June 4, Deputy Chairman of the Government of Dagestan Nariman Abdulmutalibov and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Dagestan Mukhtarbiy Adzhekov visited the Dagestan breeding experimental station of fruit crops in the city of Buynaksk.
On the trip, they were accompanied by Deputy Minister Emin Shaikhgasanov, acting. DIRECTOR of the Federal Agrarian Scientific Center of the Republic of Dagestan Nariman Nimatulaev and HEAD of the Department of Agriculture of the Administration of the Buynaksky District Magomed Gadzhimurzaev.
The delegation toured the laboratories of the scientific institution, its gardens, orchard, reservoir, as well as the library, which has more than 7,000 scientific books, including those from the 19th century.
Station director Sadrudin Battalov told how various native varieties of sweet cherry, APPLE, peach, cherry, apricot are tested, from which jams, juices and compotes are made.
Following the visit to the breeding station, Nariman Abdulmutalibov noted the importance of the work carried out in the institution in terms of import substitution of seedlings.
“Quality seedlings are grown at the station. Dagestan already uses them. There are certain successes in stone fruit and other crops. The institution has prepared a development plan, and we, for our part, will support it. The prospects are good, and I think that we will occupy a certain niche in import substitution of seedlings,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
