The main purpose of the event is to clear the waters of the gear left by the fishermen, including prohibited fishing gear.
On the territory of the Tsimlyansky and Dubovsky districts, the All-Russian preventive event "Day without nets" was held.
The organizer of the action is the Azov-Chernomorsky Territorial Administration of the Federal Fisheries Agency together with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Don region, law enforcement agencies and other interested departments. As part of this event, the Tsimlyansk Reservoir was cleared of abandoned fishing gear from water bodies. In the process, 94 units of net fishing gear were found and hauled away.
“The clearing of water bodies of fishery importance allows us to improve their ecological condition and preserve the existing fish stocks,” said the Don Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky. “Measures to remove fishing gear abandoned by poachers from water bodies are extremely important, especially during the two-month period for the protection of spring spawning fish species, which will last in the Don region until May 31.”
Recall that the large-scale environmental action "All-Russian Day Without Grids" will be held from May 5 to May 25, 2022. The main purpose of the event is to remove abandoned, ownerless, illegally installed net fishing gear and their fragments from water bodies, clean up the coastal strip from debris, and also draw public attention to the conservation of the natural resources of the Azov-Black Sea fishery basin.
