The Government of Bermuda has granted a license to the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) that provides for "some exemption from trade sanctions" to facilitate the repatriation of aircraft from RUSSIA. The decision was made on August 4, the document was published on August 10 on the regulator's website.
The Bermuda Aviation Authority may issue individual permits to businesses or individuals and special permits to fly aircraft only if doing so will facilitate the return of aircraft from Russia on behalf of non-Russian owners.
The regulator published a document with a list of ships on August 22, the document mentions 565 registration numbers of aircraft operated by various Russian airlines: Aeroflot (and its subsidiaries Rossiya and Pobeda), S7, AirBridgeCargo, Azur Air, Smartavia , Utair and others.

The validity of the flight certificates of aircraft of Russian companies registered in Bermuda was suspended by the authorities of the islands in mid-March. As of February 24, Russian carriers had 768 aircraft registered in Bermuda. Almost three weeks later, by March 11, the number of aircraft registered in foreign registries fell to 739 out of a total of 1,367 aircraft in operation.
After the entry into force of the decision, Russian airlines did not stop the operation of the aircraft, Kommersant wrote, citing data from the FlightRadar service. The Russian government has suspended an agreement with Bermuda governing the supervision of aircraft registered in this territory, such an order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Russian airlines were then allowed to register rights to foreign leased aircraft, a law signed into law by President Vladimir Putin . The document stated that the decision was made "in order to protect national interests" and to "increase the stability of the transport complex." Russian airlines took advantage of this opportunity, as did Rossiya and Utair at the end of March.
