"Uralsib" refused transfers for partner banks in dollars

Operations with dollars and euros of Uralsib customers are carried out as usual,reported in the press service of the bank

Uralsib Bank can no longer make payments in dollars and euros for its partner banks due to the policy of foreign correspondent banks, RBC was told in the press service of the credit institution.

“Foreign banks consistently refuse to accept payments from loro respondents and try to make payments only from their direct partners who have passed the compliance procedure,” Uralsib explained.

The situation did not affect clients' transactions with dollars and euros, the bank said. “Operations for making own payments and payments of Uralsib Bank customers, individuals and legal entities, in dollars and euros are carried out as usual. This will not affect the work of the bank, ”the press service of the credit institution said.

Earlier, several major Russian banks under sanctions suspended foreign exchange transfers within Russia.

VTB Bank explained that the possibility of foreign currency payments was limited by the imposition of sanctions against Russian financial institutions. The representative of VTB also said that the bank expects "the development of alternative channels for making such transfers."

Currency transfers within the country were also suspended by the Moscow Credit Bank (MCB). Such a decision in his press service was explained by the fact that they do not want to put the funds of clients at risk, which may be blocked. The ICB added that it is impossible to guarantee a currency transfer due to the position of counterparty banks.

The Sberbank website says that due to sanctions restrictions, currency transfers from and to some banks in Russia may not be available. Sberbank cannot guarantee that the transfer will come to the recipient in the same foreign currency in which it was sent, RBC was told at the bank's call center. Sberbank did not respond to RBC's request.

Since April, currency transfers to both foreign and domestic banks have been suspended by Alfa-Bank. He cannot guarantee that such a transfer will not be blocked, tech support told RBC.

The suspension of foreign exchange transfers in and out of Russia since June 14 was reported in the call center of Rosselkhozbank. Otkritie Bank conducts transfers in foreign currency in Russia only in favor of Sberbank and VTB clients when applying to the office with a passport, RBC said in support of the bank.

Western countries have imposed sanctions against the Russian financial sector, including against large banks, due to a special operation in Ukraine.
