
Yesterday, the first results of Brazil's Quarterly Livestock Sector Survey for the 4th quarter of 2021 were published on the government website. Compared to the same quarter in 2020, the report indicated that cattle slaughter decreased by 8.2%, while pig slaughter increased by 5.8%.

Compared to Q3 2021, cattle slaughter was down 2.5%, pig slaughter was down 3.2%, and chicken slaughter was up 0.3%.
In the 4th quarter of 2021, 6.77 million HEAD of cattle were slaughtered. This figure represents a decrease of 8.2% compared to Q4 2020 and 2.5% compared to Q3 2021.
The production of 1.87 million tons of cattle carcasses in the 4th quarter of 2021 decreased by 5.7% compared to the same quarter of the previous year and a decrease of 0.8% compared to the calculated in the 3rd quarter of 2021.
Pigs
In the 4th quarter of 2021, 13.29 million pigs were slaughtered, which is 5.8% more than in the same period in 2020, and 3.2% less than in the 3rd quarter of 2021.
Pig carcass output in Q4 2021 was 1.21 million tonnes, representing an increase of 7.9% compared to Q4 2020 and a decrease of 4.8% compared to the immediately preceding quarter.
Domestic bird
In the poultry industry, chicken slaughter decreased by 1.2%, and in the 4th quarter of 2021, 977.6 million dozen chicken eggs were produced, which is 1.8% less year-on-year and 2.4% compared to the previous quarter.
The production of chicken eggs in the 4th quarter of 2021 amounted to 977.6 million pieces. The result shows a decrease of 1.8% compared to the same period in 2020 and a drop of 2.4% compared to Q3 2021.
The volume of chicken MEAT output amounted to 3.68 million tons in the 4th quarter of 2021. This means an increase of 2.9% compared to Q4 2020 and an increase of 1.1% compared to the previous quarter.
