Catastrophe or renaissance: 4 scenarios for the future until 2025 for business
Global world or many closed communities? Trade wars, climate disaster or bounce back and prosperity? Lyudmila Novichenkova (Ipsos) told about what the business is waiting for in the near future
The time of another crisis, such as now, is ideal for thinking about how to manage the future with possible development scenarios and identifying a set of parameters that will allow us to monitor their implementation. Why is this a good time? Crises break the circle of routine thinking, make you wonder what will happen next, how soon the world will return to normal and what it will be like. And it is best to keep in mind not one scenario, but several at once.
The crisis poses a question for company leaders: where to direct resources and which of the shock changes will become permanent, and which will disappear? The Ipsos Futures team has identified four scenarios for possible developments up to 2025 and beyond. They will allow businesses to use the applied foresight tool to create their own forecasts for the coming years.
Working with scenarios is a good way to structure our understanding of uncertainty. They allow the company to see threats and opportunities for itself, as well as to analyze and understand who will benefit from what in each case. All this will help the business to become faster and more flexible.
