Today at 1:06 on the P50 Mosty - Zelva - Ruzhany highway near the urban settlement of Zelva, a 34-year-old driver of an Audi ran over a man born in 1965. The victim was lying on the roadway in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication . it was not marked with reflective elements. As a result of the accident, the pensioner received bodily injuries. He was taken to the hospital, from where he was released after receiving medical assistance. The driver fled the scene of the accident, but was quickly identified by officers of the Zelva District Department of Internal Affairs, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee and the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Slonim District Department of Internal Affairs.

Both administrative and criminal liability may be applied to persons who fled the scene of an accident. The Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses provides for a fine of 5 to 25 basic units (1 BV - Br40) or deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to two years for leaving the scene of an accident in which he is a participant, in cases where this is prohibited by law. If the driver knowingly left the victim in a life-threatening or health-threatening condition, he will be held criminally liable.
