Over the past week, more than 9 million people fell ill with CORONAVIRUS, of which more than 26 thousand died. At the same time, the number of deaths decreased by 43% compared with the previous seven days, according to the weekly bulletin of the World HEALTH Organization (WHO).

“From March 28 to April 3, the number of new cases of covid-19 decreased by 16% compared to the previous week, and the number of deaths decreased by 43%,” the report said.

During the week, 10,351,818 people were reported infected by the WHO. 26,285 deaths have been registered. A decrease in the number of people infected compared with the previous week (from 21 to 27 March) was recorded in all six WHO regions. This was especially pronounced in Africa (minus 19%), Europe (minus 16%) and the Western Pacific region (minus 16%). The decrease in mortality was also recorded in all regions, with a particularly noticeable decrease in South-East Asia (by 73%) and America (by 63%)

The WHO also reminded that COVID-19 "continues to evolve." “Given the current high level of transmission, it is likely that further variants [of the coronavirus], including recombinant ones, will emerge,” the fact sheet said.
