Milk truck ran a red light and hit a cyclist in Gomel

May 25, Gomel. In Gomel, a MILK truck ran through a red traffic light and knocked down a cyclist, BelTA learned from the department for agitation and propaganda of the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gomel regional executive committee.

The road accident happened on the evening of May 24. At about 17.40 in Gomel, a 30-year-old driver in a MAZ milk truck was driving along Oktyabrya Avenue in the direction of Zhukov Street. At the entrance to the pedestrian crossing, he did not slow down and drove through a prohibitory red traffic light, knocking down a 39-year-old cyclist, who at that moment began to cross the roadway into a green traffic light.

The woman was taken to the operating room with injuries.

The regional State traffic inspectorate urges drivers to be as careful as possible while driving, especially when approaching pedestrian crossings. "Keep a close eye on the traffic lights. When changing the signal, you must start slowing down in advance and stop without trying to pass. Also, cyclists and pedestrians should not rush to cross the roadway, even if the traffic light turns green for you. Make sure you are safe. And start your movement only after you make sure that all drivers have stopped and give you an advantage in traffic," the UGAI stressed.
