Sergei Mitin, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management, said this at a meeting of the Working Group on Legislative Support for the Domestic Production of Veterinary Medicines, Feed and Feed Additives
Sergei Mitin noted that the Working Group was created on the initiative of the National Veterinary Association. it included senators, representatives of the industry, scientific community, heads of large Russian companies.
Sergei Mitin stressed that the issue of providing the country with veterinary drugs, feed and feed additives, especially in the face of increased sanctions pressure, received a great response.
According to the senator, the development of the industry requires close attention from both the Government and relevant ministries and departments, as well as parliamentarians.
“There are no specialized programs of state support for both manufacturers of veterinary drugs, as well as measures to stimulate demand for the corresponding Russian-made products. The legislative and regulatory framework needs to be improved,” the senator noted.
Sergey Mitin drew the attention of the meeting participants to the fact that the activities of the working group will be aimed at developing decisions on a whole range of issues aimed at developing the domestic production of veterinary medicines, ingredients for them, measures of state support for the industry, and protection from unfair competition from foreign companies.
The meeting participants discussed proposals prepared by representatives of the industry community on the most priority areas for supporting domestic manufacturers of veterinary medicines, feed and feed additives, in the context of the introduction of foreign sanctions.
Members of the working group noted that Russian manufacturers have sufficient competencies and experience in the production of safe, environmentally friendly and modern medicinal products for veterinary use, feed and feed additives.
A decision was made on the need for a comprehensive discussion of additional measures to support domestic producers of feed and feed additives, the implementation of high-tech innovative projects.
“The creation of a specialized working group in the Federation Council served as an example for the consolidation of the industry community,” Sergey Mitin said. He recalled that a memorandum was recently signed on the formation of a coordinating expert council, which brought together the main veterinary associations of the country to solve government tasks for the development of the industry.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to support the initiative of the industry community on a comprehensive discussion of the prospects for the development of the production of Russian veterinary medicines, feed and feed additives as part of the business program of the International Specialized Exhibition "MVC: Grains-Mixed Feed-Veterinary-2022".
