On June 13, a service meeting was held at the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which was attended by deputy ministers, the leadership of bodies, divisions and organizations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. At the meeting, they considered the level of readiness of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the swimming season, as well as the prevention of injuries and deaths on the water.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, since the beginning of the year 136 people have drowned in Belarus, including four children. This is 28% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, in the stateALCOHOL intoxication were 43 people. 69 people were saved, five of whom are children .
According to the rescue department, six people died while swimming, ten people died during ice fishing, six people died while fishing from a boat, and nine people died while fishing from the shore. In addition, 32 people died when they fell into the water, including one child. Another 11 people, including two children, died when they fell into the water from the ice. Eight people died while taking a bath, including one child. Two people died when the small boat capsized. In 52 cases of drowning, the circumstances are established by the competent authorities, the necessary examinations are carried out to establish their cause.
Vadim Sinyavsky also focused on fire safety issues. For five months of this year, 2,562 man-made emergencies occurred in Belarus, which is 6.9% less than in the same period last year. In 2556 fires, 255 people died and another 259 were injured.
In addition, the meeting discussed issues of fire safety in ecosystems. Despite the fact that a 71% decrease in fires in this area has been recorded since the beginning of the year, taking into account weather conditions, the risks of forest fires remain high. The minister outlined the need to strengthen control over the state of fire safety in the forests, especially on the eve of the weekend. Aviation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is involved in the early detection of fires in forest areas and remote sensing technologies are used to detect thermal anomalies.
